Marvel Studios’ Captain America trilogy has revitalized the titular hero and transformed him into a box office superstar. Of course, it certainly helped to have a ton of Avengers and Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, but Chris Evans‘ performance as Cap has gone a long way towards his newfound popularity. As a tribute to Cap, Eric Calderone a.k.a. Erock has released a metalized version of Captain America’s theme!
The music covered here is the “Captain America March” by Alan Silvestri, from the Captain America: The First Avenger soundtrack. You may recognize the theme from the end credits of that film. “I figured this would be appropriate for everyone coming off the Civil War weekend hangover,” said Calderone on his YouTube page. “And you can never go wrong with Mr. Alan Silvestri…I tried giving a little nod to the [Civil War] trailer by getting in my underoos.” He’s not kidding. At the 1:49 mark, Calderone goes full Spider-Man!
Just to make sure there’s equal time between Cap and his Civil War opponent, here’s Calderone’s 2014 cover of Ramin Djawadi’s theme from the very first Iron Man movie.
Calderone regularly posts his heavy metal takes on dozens of popular genre films, TV shows, video games, and anime series on his YouTube channel. We’ve also featured his music a few times before, including this kick-ass cover of the Jessica Jones theme. You can find more information about Calderoneâs music at Metalyze.com.
