This weekend, Captain America: Civil War has a shot at surpassing the impressive openings of both Avengers movies on its way towards becoming one of the biggest box office hits of the year. And while there are some Marvel social video games featuring Civil War tie-in storylines, there isnât a game directly based on the latest Captain America film. But what if there was?
JoBloâs 8-bit trailers has released a decidedly retro take on Captain America: Civil War that recreates most of the filmâs trailer. Back in the early decades of gaming, chances are good that the movie studio and the game developers would have actually released a Civil War video game very close to the filmâs release. That didnât always make for the best gaming experience, but there is something fun about seeing Marvelâs heroes in this format. It almost makes us want to play a game that doesnât even exist!
The two-on-one fight between Iron Man and Captain America/Bucky is the highlight of this parody, even if Tony Starkâs alter ego looks more like Samus Aran than Iron Man. The trailer also touches upon the ultimate cinematic superhero battle (to date) in which Team Cap and Team Iron Man confront each other at an airport in Germany. The only thing missing is a nod to the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!
