It looks like Capcom has committed the internet version of “dropping a combo,” as the publisher accidentally dropped a Street Fighter V announcement trailer on Youtube this morning. The trailer was essentially an homage to the Street Fighter franchise, but the ended with a particularly revealing screen:
That’s right folks, Street Fighter V is on the way, and heading to the PS4 and PC exclusively. Not much else is divulged in the teaser trailer, but you have to think that this was an announcement Capcom was saving for the PlayStation Experience this weekend. We had heard ramblings of a Capcom fighting game coming exclusively to the PC and PS4 during the Tokyo Game Show earlier this year, which many of us had believed to be a Rival Schools reboot at first. But clearly we were wrong, and Capcom is ponying up arguably their most renowned franchise to the world of console exclusivity. I knew that Hadouken Cabs advert from last year wasn’t for nothing!
And now come the hard hitting questions that I’ll be looking to have answered this weekend. When can we expect to see this game hit the light of day? Will this game run on Capcom’s new and highly praised Panta Rhei engine? Is this simply a timed exclusive that will eventually make it’s way over to the Xbox One? Only time will tell, but in the meantime, Capcom might want to do this to the person who accidentally let the chihuahua slip out of the bag this morning:
