The Tremors franchise has never quite reached the heights–or maybe we should say the lows–of the original movie, and it was always obvious what was missing: Kevin Bacon‘s Valentine McKee. So when we heard Syfy was going to attempt a second TV series (they aired a short lived 2003 show) based on the cult classic but this time starring both Bacon and Fred Ward, we figured it was a guarantee to happen. Then last month Bacon announced the network had passed, leaving us all to wonder how a beloved movie with its original lead (who is still a huge Hollywood star) wasn’t good enough to make it to air.
And now that the trailer has made its way online we really don’t know what the hell happened, because it looks amazing.
Drew McWeeny tweeted out a link to the trailer for the pilot, a clip that is also being hosted at a Vimeo account belonging to none other than “Valentine McKee.” (What were the odds!) We’re thankful to whomever shared it though, because after enough people see it Syfy might reverse course and let Bacon and Ward battle some graboids for a full season.
Hell yeah! Old gritty washout Valentine McKee!
Remember when someone shared Deadpool footage in 2014 and it forced Fox to release the movie the way it was meant to be? So do we, and we also remember Deadpool went on to become the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all-time, with a highly anticipated sequel on the way. We’re not saying that would happen this time, we’re just saying we’d like to find out. Who knows what kind of rumbling this great trailer might cause, since we doubt fans are going to stay quiet after seeing it.
Are you surprised Syfy passed on the show after seeing this trailer? Tell us what you think in the comments below.
