While the Fantastic Four reboot was a bit of a fizzle, Fox’s own Marvel universe is looking better than ever. This is thanks to that stellar Deadpool trailer we finally got last week, tidbits about the Channing Tatum-starring Gambit flick, and the steady stream of sneak peeks at Bryan Singer’s forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. But what’s next now that the cinematic future of Marvel‘s first family is in doubt? Sounds like they might have to look to the future quite literally, because it might be Cable! You know, Cable? The time-traveling, cybernetic-eyed son of Cyclops from the future? Yeah, that Cable.
Join Jessica Chobot on today’s Nerdist News as she breaks down the exciting news that Deadpool and Cable are reuniting for an all-new comic called Deadpool & Cable: Split Second! The comic is coming from the dream team of Fabian Nicieza and Reilly Brown, the original creative team behind 2004’s Cable and Deadpool ongoing series.
Here’s the official solicitation text:
“Call them a duo with a special kind of dynamics … call them the odd couple but with guns … call them 90s comics distilled down into two characters â DEADPOOL AND CABLE ARE BACK, BABY! Thatâs right â The Merc with the Mouth and the Soldier with the Scowl are together again in this all-new series! When Cable gets a vision of a terrible future set off by the death of one man, he knows he must protect him no matter what! Iâll get you three guesses whoâs been hired to kill that guy. Go on, guess. The fan favorite team of Fabian Nicieza & Reilly Brown have reunited to get the gang back together â and it feels so good!”
But that’s not all — we’re also breaking down the rumor that Deadpool 2 might be stealing Fantastic Four 2‘s release date, and dissecting the whisper on the wind that the Deadpool sequel might face the Merc with a Mouth off against none other than Marvel‘s Kyle Reese, Cable!
