Buy This One-of-a-Kind EVANGELION Car If You Have the NERV

In the United States, 7-Eleven is regarded as the premiere spot to buy off-brand beef jerky, diabetes-inducing Slurpees, and all manner of questionable egg salad sandwiches. In Japan, however, 7-Eleven is like an oasis disguised as a convenience store. With its own bank, a variety of delicious Japanese treats, and genuinely friendly employees, it is a much classier version of its western counterpart. How much classier? Well, today they unveiled a one-of-a-kind sports car emblazoned with Neon Genesis Evangelion-inspired art. Dubbed the “7-Eleven Limited Mitsuoka Motors Evangelion Orochi”, this sweet whip will cost you a cool 16 million yen (approximately $138,140).

Using Mitsuoka Motors’ Orochi Gold Premium vehicle as a base, Evangelion mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita designed the custom itasha car. If you’re considering buying it, you can fill out an application at 7-Eleven stores across Japan from November 14-30 whereupon a buyer will be chosen by lottery. So if you don’t have the money yet, you still have the rest of the month to do a series of increasingly unspeakable things in order to scrounge it up. For those of you still shaking your head in disbelief that a vaunted convenience store like 7-Eleven would sell weird character goods like this, you should also know that this past August, they sold a massive $18,000 Unit-01 Evangelion figure. Now that’s what I call convenient.

What do you think of this custom car? What other property deserves an awesome automobile? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. That may be the ugliest paint job I’ve ever seen on a car. The opposite of what I would call “classy.”
