BUFFY’S Villainous Trio Reunites for Jonathan’s New Movie

It’s been a busy 13 years for the Trio since Buffy the Vampire Slayer wrapped. The actors who portrayed season six’s non-Dark Willow villains—Tom Lenk (the redeemed Andrew), Danny Strong (the oft-forgotten Jonathan), and Adam Busch (ringleader Warren)—have each taken on their fair share of projects since 2003. Strong’s most recent venture, the forthcoming film Rebel in the Rye, brought the three of them together for a photo opportunity this past weekend as they all attended a premiere of the movie (which comes out September 15).

Given Strong’s role on Buffy, it’s a pleasant irony that his career has been the most explosive post-show. In 2012, he won two Emmys for his HBO movie Game Change, and he cowrote both adaptations of Mockingjay. He also serves as an executive producer and occasional writer for Fox’s ratings giant Empire. Meanwhile, Lenk has become something of a social media superstar with his penchant for recreating starlets’ red carpet looks on Instagram, and he continues to dabble in acting with guest appearances on Transparent and Fresh off the Boat. Both he and Busch made appearances on Thrilling Adventure Hour; Lenk’s Kevin the Spider was a fan favorite on the occasional “Sparks Nevada” segment, while Busch did a few one-off characters for both “Sparks” and “Beyond Belief.” TAH aside, Busch has a recurring role in USA’s (underrated) dystopian drama Colony. He also plays a part in Rebel in the Rye.

It’s always a pleasure to see a Buffy reunion. Maybe if Strong’s career slows down, we’ll get a belated spinoff series of the trio a la The Lone Gunmen. But then, given their collective fates by the end of BtVS, maybe not.

Which Buffy faves do you want to see together again? Let us know in the comments!
