Bruce Springsteen Performs an Amazing “Purple Rain” Cover

This past week, we lost a musical legend when Prince passed away Thursday at the age of 57 (You can check out all of Nerdist’s coverage/tributes here). Regardless of whether or not you listened to his music on a regular basis, his genius is without question.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band showed they agree this past Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Entertainment Weekly reported this video from Springsteen fan David Aribter who attended the concert.

Before the show started, the arena was bathed in purple light as a tribute to the man himself. The band took the stage, with fans yelling their signature “BRUUUUCE” as the Boss grabbed his guitar. The E Street band then began their concert with an amazing rendition of “Purple Rain.”

To say they did the song justice is a true understatement as the emotion Bruce sang with not only put his unique vocal stamp on the song, but it also symbolized the sadness that a lot of fans felt with Prince’s passing. Adding to it was an amazing solo by guitarist Nils Lofgren.

The band also dedicated the entire concert to Prince, with Springsteen saying “there’s never been any better.” There are millions of fans around the world that both agree and appreciate Bruce’s sentiments.

So what do you think? Was this the best tribute to Prince that you have seen so far? What is your favorite Prince memory? Let me know on Twitter or share them down in the comments below.
