Break Us Off a Piece of That Sushi Kit Kat We Guess

Break Us Off a Piece of That Sushi Kit Kat We Guess

Two years ago we told you about specialty boutiques in Japan called Chocolatory shops that sold gold Kit Kat bars. I’m happy to report that delightfully bizarre sweet shops are still going strong — they have outdone themselves by creating what might be their strangest concoction yet: a sushi Kit Kat.

If you’re thinking this is an average chocolate bar atop a bed of rice, you’d be wrong; this is a Willy Wonka-style, completely immersive chocolate tastebud experience. Sweet rice puffs stand-in for traditional sushi rice, and not only do they look the par,t they have a similar chewy texture that feels like a dessert sushi.

Specialty Kit Kat flavors are used to make the treats look like their sushi counterparts and pair well with the puff rice. The maguro is a raspberry Kit Kat, while the uni is created with a hokkaido melon with mascarpone cheese-flavored Kit Kat. If your mind is tricked and you’re missing that fresh from the sea flavor, not to worry, this dessert is wrapped in actual seaweed.

Also wrapped in seaweed is the tamago. While it looks just like the egg omelet sushi, the actual flavor is made with a pumpkin pudding-flavored Kit Kat.

According to Rocketnews, the sushi Kit Kats were a joke that Nestlé Japan posted on April Fool’s Day. But Kit Kat fans who collect and eat flavors like soy sauce and cheesecake were so enamored with the idea that Nestle Japan decided to make it happen.

Only 500 sets of these sushi Kit Kats will be given away to customers with purchase at the new Ginza store in Tokyo. The deal starts February 2 and will be available until February 14 in limited quantities each day. You better believe there will be a queue for these oddities so line up now. I’m saying board a flight and head on over, you don’t want to miss out in the world’s first sushi Kit Kat do you? Commit to your love of chocolate!

Check out all the sushi Kit Kat goodness in the gallery below.

What do you think of sushi Kit Kat? Would you rather have a sushi Kit Kat handroll stuffed to the gills with chocolate candy? Maybe that will be next year’s offering. Let us know what you think in the comments!
