Listen to me, you fools, and listen good: Queen of All The Cool Girls and person I’d personally really like to be, St. Vincent, will be shredding up a storm on Late Night with Seth Meyers next week. Uh huh, that’s right, the most badass chick in music will temporarily front The 8G Band and, frankly, we couldn’t be more excited.
Recent Nerdist Podcast guest St. Vincent â sometimes known by her mortal name, Annie Clark â has been confirmed as the temporary leader for the Late Night With Seth Meyers house band on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week (August 11 and 12, respectively) while regular head musical honcho, Fred Armisen, continues to get his Portlandia on across the country. (Which is to say he’s currently busy filming the next season of Portlandia. So, you know, trade-offs.) And while this is not the first time the 8G crew has hosted a guest musician, it is the first time someone will take control of the band’s proverbial wheel that isn’t the aforementioned Saturday Night Live alum.
According to a press release announcing the news, Clark will “sing and shred” throughout the evening, a no-duh sort of requirement of her, considering she’s more than adept at both of those things. And on top of that? It’ll be really fun to see her play along with some of the other members of the Late Show band as it includes members of Les Savy Fav and Girls Against Boys.
OK everyone, let’s play a game in the comments: let’s post our favorite St. Vincent songs in the comments. Our current on-repeat track is “Regret” which we’ll post for you below because we like you, Nerdist community. We really, really do!
Did you guys hear her covering the Nirvana tune with them at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony? Not bad!
