BORROWED TIME Trailer Teases Gorgeous Animated Short

Pixar has been making us feel all the feels as the kids say for more than a few years now. It’s no surprise that two of their artists, Andrew Coats and Lou Hamou-Lhadj, are doing just the same thing with their upcoming animated short Borrowed Time. You can check out the trailer below and be just as wowed as I am by the detail and feelings their art leaves in its wake.

The official synopsis of the short tells a story of loss and potential redemption:

A weathered Sheriff returns to the remains of an accident he has spent a lifetime trying to forget. With each step forward, the memories come flooding back. Faced with his mistake once again, he must find the strength to carry on.

Coats and Hamou-Lhadj have worked on everything from Cars 2 to the highly anticipated The Good Dinosaur and this will be their first project independent of the large team behind Pixar’s masterpieces. They’ve been working on Borrowed Time for five years and plan to put it on the festival circuit upon its release. They have also supplied a treasure trove of early drawings and character plans on their Facebook page so I highly recommend you scurry over and click that Like button.

Alongside Coats and Hamou-Lhadj, the short is being produced by Amanda Deering Jones, also of Pixar, and scored by Academy Award winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla who won 2 consecutive Oscars for his work on Brokeback Mountain and Babel.

I can’t wait to see more of what looks like will be a lovely short film that will continue Pixar’s traditional wow factor with art and punch to the gut when it comes to feelings. Hopefully I will be able to catch it at a festival soon.
