Blurppy’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Poster Project

Guardians of the Galaxy is still a couple of months away, but it’s never too early to get excited. Blurppy is here to help you get hooked on that feeling with their latest Poster Posse project. It’s focused on the stars of the upcoming film: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot. Blurppy challenged several artists to come up with fan posters for the comic book movie, and they received a pile of responses featuring diverse styles and techniques.

Some artists focused on a single character like Rocket Raccoon, and others went the mash-up route. Matt Ferguson’s contribution puts the Guardians into the Tom Jung designed movie poster for A New Hope. The Star Wars connection makes it an automatic favorite. The collector in me enjoys seeing the various ways artists approach the material. I like getting to see the members of the team interpreted in ways that might not get official approval from Marvel. For that reason, it’s probably a good thing these posters aren’t for sale. I’d go broke, and I know I’m not the only one.

This round of posters is so excellent that it got the attention of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. He’s been tweeting pieces from the Poster Posse project for the last few days, and I can’t imagine how excited the artists are to get recognition. It’s classy of Gunn to interact with them and basically encourage the fan art.
