Last month, Kendrick Lamar‘s music video for “Loveâ gave away his involvement with the upcoming Black Panther soundtrack. Lamar just couldn’t resist leaving this message to his fans in the video: “B.Panther Soundtrack Coming Soon.” Although the film won’t hit theaters for another month and change, Lamar has already dropped “All the Stars,” the first song from Black Panther: The Album. R&B singer SZA is also featured on this release, as she and Lamar perform the film’s lead single. The accompanying music video is a little sparse with its visuals, but there’s still beauty in the stars.
In fact, Lamar is taking a much bigger role with the film’s music than previously realized; Marvel has lined up Lamar and Anthony âTop Dawgâ Tiffith to curate and produce the Black Panther soundtrack. The rest of the songs have yet to be formally announced, but Run the Jewels’ “Legend Has It” and Vince Staples’ “BagBak” have already been featured in the trailers for the movie. That probably means that there’s a very good chance that they will wind up on the album as well. Lamarâs âDNAâ also accompanied footage from the film that was unveiled at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Black Panther: The Album will be released on February 9, and pre-orders have already begun. “All the Stars” can also be found on Spotify right now. The film will hit theaters on Friday, February 16.
