Bjork’s New Album VULNICURA Hits iTunes Two Months Early

Remember the announcement that Icelandic songstress Bjork had a new album coming out this March, her first since 2011’s Biophilia? Well, due to the fact that album has already leaked online (something that’s happening to every major recording artist these days), Bjork has decided to release her new album Vulnicura, which is “rolling out on iTunes worldwide over the next 24 hours” according to a press release–though it appears only available on international versions of iTunes as of this writing. This means the album is available a whole two months early in an effort to combat the leaks, similar to what Madonna just did when her album Rebel Heart leaked at Christmas time. Both the CD and vinyl versions of the album will still hit in March.

Artists Arca and The Haxan Cloak both contributed to the album, and Björk has also announced a series of shows coming to New York City this spring. Full dates below:

03-07 New York, NY – Carnegie Hall
03-14 New York, NY – Carnegie Hall
03-25 New York, NY – City Center
03-28 New York, NY – City Center
04-01 New York, NY – City Center
04-04 New York, NY – City Center
06-05-07 New York, NY – Governors Ball

Bjork’s albums from the ’90s and early 2000s were some of the best and most innovative recordings of the past twenty years, it will be interesting to see if Vulnicura can hit the heights of earlier masterpieces like Post and Homogenic. If there’s anyone who’s sure to surprise us, it’s Bjork.
