Halloween season officially kicked off last night when Beyond Fest launched its second year by hosting the Los Angeles premiere of Alexandre Aja’s latest film Horns. There’s much more where that came from and Nerdist will be bringing you in depth coverage of the fan favorite horror fest!
Lots of familiar genre favorites will screen including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Fight Club and Ti West’s new cult classic House of the Devil in addition to some upcoming and buzzed about selections like TIFF favorite Nightcrawler and The Canal out of the UK. The latest entries of popular anthology series’ ABC’s of Death 2 and V/H/S Viral will be making appearances.
Below are the four films we’ll be highlighting in our Beyond Fest 2014 coverage:
Starry Eyes, Monday, 9/29 @ 7:30PM – Egyptian Theater
A cautionary tale about fame and Los Angeles, and presented as part of a double feature with Possession,  co-directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer and the cast will be on hand to discuss one of the best reviewed thrillers on the festival circuit this year! Nerdist will also be bringing you an exclusive interview with Widmyer as part of our Beyond Fest coverage.
Halloween (1978), Wednesday, 10/1 @ 7:30PM – Egyptian Theater
A world premiere restoration featuring a Q&A with The Horror Master himself, John Carpenter, and Jamie Lee Curtis. This will truly be a once in a lifetime opportunity!
Monster Squad, Friday, 10/3 @ 7:30PM – Egyptian Theater
The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail presents a “talk and play” of one of their favorites with director Fred Dekker in person. An experience not to be missed, especially if you’re super into nards!
The Town That Dreaded Sundown (2014), Saturday, 10/4 @ 7:30PM – Egyptian Theater
The long awaited reimagining of The Town That Dreaded Sundown also marks the feature film directing debut of American Horror Story helmer Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. Executive produced by Ryan Murphy and Jason Blum, the screening is free and will feature both Gomez-Rejon and Blum in attendance and participating in a Q&A. Seats are first come, fist serve, so get there early if you want to see this one before it is released on October 16!
