Chances are, if you liked some character’s style in the late ’90s or early aughts, Besty Heimann is responsible for it. The iconic costume designer has worked with the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Cameron Crowe, dressing up movies like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Almost Famous, and many, many, MANY more. And now she’s tackling one of the most unique Westerns out there:Â Godless, the Netflix series about a small Wild West town run by a ton of women after a mining accident murders all the capable men.
With rough edges and frilled cuffs, Heimann created a visual language that, arguably, does just as much (or more) in the way of defining its characters as the casting or photography do. So we were THRILLED to have her on this week’s episode of Fangirling. But don’t just take our word for it, listen to our chat with Heimann about her process right here, right now!
