Well fancy that. A little over a week ago, a  guy named Seth shipped an 11.2 lb box filled with approximately 2,240 bottle caps to Bethesda in hopes that it would be enough to pay for his pre-order for Fallout 4. While the rest of the world thought he was crazy, awesome, or just plain weird, this ultimate fan was waiting to hear back about the prized collection of bottle caps he just sent over to Maryland–that is, until today.
Whether they appreciated the fan’s dedication, or just wanted to get rid of the bottle caps, the company has decided to accept Seth’s “life savings” as payment for a Fallout 4 pre-order. It was Bethesda’s Global Community Lad Matt Grandstaff who received the smelly package yesterday and replied to Seth’s Letter.

Seth shared the good news with the world yesterday. He stated, “He told me since I was the first person to do this, I would be receiving a copy of the game this November, and that he would be running my caps over to deposit them at the People’s Bank of Point Lookout.”
Remember this place?
So yes, dreams do come true. I, for one, am just glad this guy’s decision to save up bottle caps for 4.5 years of undergrad and 3 years in a Master’s program at least garnered him a copy of the game. It’s too bad they aren’t offering him the limited Pip-Boy edition, but then I suppose it was a fair trade considering the fact that the going exchange rate for the ones he sent over is about $62.
Whatever the case, good on you Bethesda.
NOTE: I wouldn’t suggest bombarding the company with bottle caps, as Bethesda’s remarks said they were giving Seth the copy because he was the first person to do this.
