While it’s great to hear that DC Entertainment is stepping up its game in creating toys for young female superhero fans via its new DC Super Hero Girls line (due out this fall), Marvel still needs to follow suit… especially in light of its ongoing and widely publicized Black Widow problem. Disney has helped a little with its recent animated Oscar-winner Big Hero 6 (inspired by the Marvel super-team comic), since the film introduced two new heroines to audiences — Go Go Tomago and Honey Lemon — each of whom earned their own action figure. But since there’s still a dearth of superhero play accessories based on female superheroes, one awesome father took it upon himself to build his eight-year-old daughter Sophia a striking replica of Honey Lemon’s chem ball purse, from which the junior scientist/superhero can conjure up all manner of world-saving chemicals. Check out super-dad Brandon Lee’s handiwork in the images below…
Brandon developed the purse out of foam and LEDs…
And thanks to the LEDs, the best part of the chem ball purse is its light-up, programmable periodic table of elements…
As can be seen above, there’s a hole in the side of the purse. In it, there’s a magnet on which is mounted a chem ball that Sophia can take out when she needs to battle evil. Here’s her completed costume, which she wore to a local comic book convention…
Since Sophia wants to cosplay as Honey’s teammate Go Go Tomagao at next year’s convention, her dad’s work isn’t quite done. To be continued…
