Alright Cumberbabes or Cumberbitches or Cumbercollective or whatever you’re calling yourselves these days: the ‘Batch is back. And your reigning champion, Benedict Cumberbatch, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Monday night to tell a story and lo, what a bootyful story it was, folks.
Playing a brand new game called “Three Word Stories” with Jimmy Fallon, Cumberbatch was tasked with attempting to write a story, three words at a time, between himself and Fallon. The twist? There was a word neither of them knew on a card, and in those very few words, each fella would have to try and steer the other person into saying said word. For example? Fallon had to get Cumberbatch to say the word “unicorn.” It worked fairly well and happened relatively quickly.
But then came the ‘Batch’s word â booty, because of course, the writers on this show know what they’re doing â and that’s when all sorts of shenanigans, tomfoolery, and mentions of the Internet-breaking backend of Kim Kardashian.
It’s worth watching just for the awkward and uncomfortable faces Cumberbatch makes, alone.
Not to get oh so Internet-y that it hurts but: the struggle was clearly quite real for Bennyboy over here, who clearly had no idea how to get Fallon to say the word. But therein lies the COMEDY of it all, folks! Awkward struggles to do and/or say awkward things leads to awkwardly funny, bumbling moments.
Like we said before â they know what they’re doing. And guess what, Internet? It’s all for you.
What 3-word story would you tell to Cumberbuns over here? Leave your suggestions in the comments.
ahah This is funny haha
That was painfully wonderful.
“Pirates wanna steal…”
“Please spank your…”
“Bee Gees shake…”
The possibilities are endless, Mr. Cumberbatch, Sherlock would be disappointed. Then again, Sherlock would never have played… oh well. Still hilarious.
Poor guy was probably jet lagged and exhausted from all the publicity stuff he’s been doing. Still, they were both hysterical!I personally would have taken the pirate approach, but you know 😉
