Bendis Brings POWERS to the PlayStation Network

Well, if you didn’t have PSN, then you might want to think about getting it. Sony’s subscription service will be the only place you can see the live-action Powers when the superhero cop show hits the network this winter.

Powers co-creator Brian Michael Bendis (he of the Marvel brain trust) took the stage at Sony’s E3 press conference to announce that the series was currently in production with casting still underway. Bendis didn’t have any footage to offer up, but did show a couple of slides of concept art (there’s a video of the presentation currently up on YouTube, however, it seems to have only caught 35 seconds of the announcement).

Bendis co-created Powers with series artist Michael Avon Oeming, and the series follows Chicago homicide detectives Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim as they investigate crimes against the capes and tights set. However, Detective Walker has a secret: he used to be a superhero himself, and after losing his powers has committed himself to finding justice for heroes (and villains) when they can’t get justice for themselves.

Bendis will serve as executive producer on the series which will be free for PlayStation Network subscribers starting this winter.
