Ice cream lovers, rejoice! It looks like Ben & Jerry’s is continuing its fun promotional tie-in with Saturday Night Live. Three years ago, they made a Schweddy Balls flavor inspired by the Pete Schweddy character in a SNL sketch that mischievously toyed with Pete’s last name. No matter what your knee-jerk reaction to the idea of a Schweddy Balls flavor might be, it was a good enough move for Ben & Jerry’s to make two more SNL flavors coming just in time for SNL‘s 40th Anniversary.
Lazy Sunday and Gilly’s Catastrophic Crunch will be the two of Ben & Jerry’s latest. Of course, the seminal SNL Digital Short, ‘Lazy Sunday‘Â is the inspiration for the flavor of the same name. A vanilla cake batter ice cream mixed in with chewy yellow and chocolate cupcake pieces should pair nicely for watching The Chronicles of Narnia on Sunday (or any day).
Gilly’s Catastrophic Crunch comes from Kristen Wiig’s unforgettable Gilly. The flavor aims to be, according to Ben & Jerry’s, “as frantic and mischievous as the flavor’s namesake.” Gilly’s Catastrophic Crunch is a glorious bombardment of chocolate swirls, caramel clusters, fudge covered almonds, and marshmallow.
The only bad news is that, for the time being, you can’t pick up a pint of Lazy Sunday or Gilly’s Catastrophic Crunch at your local grocer. You’ll have to go to your closest Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop. However, it is available right at this very moment if you’re anywhere near one of those scoop shops.
