Beam 11 New STAR TREK: DISCOVERY Character Posters Into Your Eyeballs

Star Trek: Discovery, the first Star Trek television series in more than twelve years, is less than two months from making its debut on CBS, before moving to the new digital platform of CBS All Access. Thanks to a recent trailer and panel at San Diego Comic-Con, we know more about this Star Trek: The Original Series prequel shows than ever before.

Set ten years before the time of Kirk and Spock, Star Trek: Discovery takes place at a time when the Federation and the Klingon Empire are in the middle of a cold war–one that’s about to erupt into a full-blown war if nothing is done to stop it. The new series will focus on two ships, the titular Discovery, captained by Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs) and the Shenzou, captained by Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh).

Unlike all the Star Trek series from years past, this new show will have an executive officer as the main character rather than the ship’s Captain, focusing on The Walking Dead alum Sonequa Martin-Green as Lt. Commander Michael Burnham.

In anticipation of the September premiere of the show, CBS has released new key art for the series, with close-ups of each of the principal cast members, as well as several of the show’s Klingon adversaries. You can check out each new image down below:

The first image features First Officer Michael Burnham, as played by Sonequa Martin-Green. A human orphan raised on the planet Vulcan, and in the Vulcan philosophy. She rose up the ranks to become first human to attend the Vulcan Science Academy, and she is the adopted daughter of Sarek and Amanda, which makes her Spock’s sister.

Next up, Captain Gabriel Lorca, as played by former Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs. Captain Lorca is in command of the Discovery and is Michael Burnham’s commanding officer.

The Discovery isn’t the only Starfleet ship we see on the show; in command of the Shenzou is Captain Philippa Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh.

Playing Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan, we have Orphan Black and True Blood star James Frain. The actor will be the third performer to take on the role of Sarek over the years.

As Science Officer Paul Stamets, the first ever LGBT reccuring character to appear as a member of a Star Trek show’s ensemble cast, we present Rent’s Anthony Rapp.

Our resident exotic alien on the series is Lt. Saru, played by Hellboy star Doug Jones. Saru is a part of a species new to Trek, the Kelpians.

Mary Wiseman plays Silvia Tilly, a cadet in her final year at Starfleet Academy, assigned to the Discovery. She’ll be Lt. Burnham’s bunkmate on the show.

Shazad Latif of Penny Dreadful plays Lt. Ash Tyler, a Starfleet officer who is a former prisoner of war.

The Klingon T’Kuvma is Discovery’s main baddie, and is looking to unite the 24 great Klingon houses, in an effort to go to war with the Federation. He’s played by Chris Obie.

Another Klingon on the series is L’Rell, a battle deck Commander on a Klingon ship. She’s played by Mary Chieffo.

And finally, we have a newly announced character (actor unknown) as another Klingon, this one named Voq.

And there are still several more cast members who have yet to receive character posters, such as like Discovery’s Chief Medical Officer played by Wilson Cruz.
