BATMAN VS. ELMER FUDD Comic is Now a Radio Play

Earlier this year, DC Comics released a series of one-shots that paired up some of their most iconic superheroes with the Looney Tunes characters. And while a few of the comics struggled to justify the bizarre crossovers, Batman vs. Elmer Fudd managed to strike the perfect tone by literally re-imagining the Looney Tunes into human characters from Gotham City’s underworld. As for Elmer, he had a dangerous vendetta against Bruce Wayne that became a battle with his alter ego, Batman. Comic book artist and writer, Neal Adams, was so enamored by the issue that he recently turned it into a radio play and provided almost all of the voices himself!

We came across this video via i09, which noted that Adams’ wife, Marilyn Adams, portrayed Silver St. Cloud. Within the story created by writer Tom King and artist Lee Weeks, Silver was the lover of both Bruce Wayne and Elmer Fudd before she was dispatched by a hitman named Bugs the Bunny. To save his own life, Bugs claimed that Bruce hired him to kill Silver, which inevitably led to a showdown between Elmer and the Dark Knight.

Adams built his legend in comics during the ’70s on Batman, as one of the first comic creators to bring back the inherent darkness and drama that had been lost when the ’60s Batman TV series was on the air. We always knew that Adams was a peerless artist and a talented writer, but we didn’t know that he could do voices as well. His Elmer Fudd and Batman performances are pretty good, and the story allowed him to take a crack at many of the famous Looney Tunes who made cameo appearances.

Batman vs. Elmer Fudd is a legitimately great issue, which you should check out when you get a chance. Adams’ radio play covers most of it in just under 14 minutes, but it’s even better when you can pour over the details of Weeks’ art and enjoy the absurdity of the entire thing.

What did you think of the audio play? Be vewwy, vewwy quiet. We’re hunting comments below!
