More than any other superhero or franchise, Batman easily has the best/coolest legacy of theme music. From Neal Hefti’s classic dunnah-dunnah-dunnah-dunnah-Batman! theme, to Danny Elfman‘s sinister, brooding theme for Batman: The Animated Series, to Prince’s “Batdance“, to Hans Zimmer‘s indelible work on both The Dark Knight trilogy and Batman v Superman, Bruce Wayne has always had an edge as the coolest superhero in the books (whatever, Tony Stark).
But there are so many iterations of the Dark Knight that just limiting yourself to the music of the tentpole versions of the character would be to deprive yourself of legitimately great and entertaining tunes. The latest great entries into the superhero’s discography? The soundtracks to DC and Warner Bros.’ animated films, Batman Unlimited: Animal Instinct and Batman Unlimited Monster Mayhem, which see the Caped Crusader fighting alongside The Flash and Green Arrow to take down the Penguin and the Joker.
Composed by the award-winning Kevin Reipl, the soundtracks for either film are tonally consistent with the moodier side of Batman that we all know and love. Sample the tracks below from Monster Mayhem to hear what we’re talking about–it is electronically dappled orchestral music that will make you want to put on a cape and run through the nearest urban metropolis (definitely don’t do this).

Both soundtracks are available as you read this so be sure to pick those bad boys up right here. Both Monster Mayhem and Animal Instincts carry on the tradition of gripping Batman theme music, so you’d be remiss to miss out on these!
And here’s why Batman’s grappling hook would actually kill you!
