BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS Trailer Gives Us the Dynamic Duo We Need

Fifty years ago, Adam West and Burt Ward teamed up as Batman and Robin for the first live-action Batman TV series, and they’re not done yet! This fall, West and Ward will be joined by fellow original cast member, Julie Newmar in Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, a full-length animated movie that revisits the classic heroes and villains of Batman ’66!

Sadly, there’s no Batgirl in this movie, and several cast members like Yvonne Craig, Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, and Frank Gorshin have passed away in the intervening years. But Newmar’s Catwoman will be joined in this film by the Joker, the Riddler, and the Penguin as they conceive a diabolical plan to take down Gotham City’s protectors once and for all. We don’t know all of the story details yet, but Warner Bros.’ official description hints at an adventure that will take Batman and Robin to “outer space (and back)” as well as a Replicator Ray that will inspire the following line from Robin: “Holy Multiplication Tables!”

IGN debuted the first trailer for Return of the Caped Crusaders, which features the Dynamic Duo riding again in one of the all-time great Batmobiles as they take on the Fearsome Foursome in the Jokermobile, which has a very amusing and lethal design. The Batman ’66 sense of humor also seems to be hilariously intact, with visual sound effects and intentionally bad puns. Even the classic Batman theme is back. It’s all incredibly cheesy, but we love it!

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders hits Digital HD starting October 11, with the Blu-ray and DVD release following on November 1.
