Batman Assembles the JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK in New Trailer, and More Movie News

If there’s something strange in the DC Universe, who you gonna call? Justice League Dark! Yes, the first trailer for the DCU’s next animated movie has arrived, and it’s stuffed with more supernatural champions than you can wave a wand at. Also in today’s Movie Morsels, we’ve got a very cool new Rogue One promo, a new Assassin’s Creed poster featuring most of the video game adaptation’s cast, and plenty more for you good people…

Justice League Dark

While there’s an argument to be made that most of DC’s recent movies have been so dark that the title of its latest is a little redundant, suffice it to say that the first ever screen adventure for DC’s magic-based superheroes looks wholly deserving of its moniker. John Constantine, Zatanna, Deadman, Swamp Thing, and the Demon feature in the first trailer for Justice League Dark, which shows off a surprising amount of DC’s non-magic Leaguers. Most notably Batman (voiced once more by Jason O’Mara), who’s seen here recruiting the arcane avengers when their world faces a cataclysmic threat…

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One has been quite good to Star Wars fans lately, with new trailers, photos, and advance looks at its line of toys. The latest promo for the December release is the most creative of all: Rogue One: Recon, a 360 virtual experience designed by Verizon and ILMxLAB, and available exclusively in Samsung Gear VR Headsets in 1400 Verizon stores. The 3D video allows viewers to experience the Star Wars universe from the perspective of an X-wing pilot in deep space, one who suddenly runs afoul of Imperial forces and their deadly new weapon…

Assassin’s Creed

Hail, hail, the gang’s all here! Most of the advertising material we’ve seen thus far for the Assassin’s Creed movie has focused almost exclusively on the film’s lead, Michael Fassbender, a.k.a. Callum Lynch/Aguilar de Nerha. But a new international poster features the rest of its stars as well, including Oscar winners Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons, both of whom look appropriately grim for director Justin Kurzel’s adaptation of the wildly popular Ubisoft video game franchise…

Ocean’s 8

It appears the stars of the Ocean’s 11 movies won’t be completely absent from the upcoming gender-swapped reboot after all. But don’t worry, because the old guys aren’t gonna steal any of the new gals’ thunder. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Matt Damon says he will be making an appearance in Ocean’s 8, but only in cameo role.

In the following video, shot on the red carpet for Manchester by the Sea, it sounds like the actor’s just as excited as I am to see what Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Helena Bonham Carter, and co. do with this material. Damon’s remarks on the film kick in at the 1:20 mark…

Green Hornet

green-hornet

Finally today… After Michel Gondry’s take on The Green Hornet died a quick death at the box office in 2011, millionaire playboy turned crimefighter Britt Reid and his ass-kicking partner Kato were the last superheroes I expected to see rebooted any time soon. But as is often the case with bugs, there’s another one lurking in the shadows, ready to sting when we least expect it. Paramount has just purchased the Hornet film rights, for The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor and screenwriter Sean O’Keefe to produce a more serious take on the characters. Good luck to them. After Gondry and Seth Rogen’s trippy parody, they’ll need it!
