BABY DRIVER’s Edgar Wright Shares His Top 50 Songs of 2017

Edgar Wright more than proved he knows something about great music with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and then he went ahead and directed Baby Driver, where every single thing that happened onscreen was perfectly timed with its fantastic soundtrack. The movie is like watching a conductor simultaneously lead the Vienna Philharmonic and the world’s most exciting car chase. So we’re not surprised that in addition to being one of the coolest directors in Hollywood, he also has manages to stay up-to-date with the best new albums and bands. Fortunately for those of us who are not nearly as hip, he made a playlist of his favorite songs of 2017. And it’s a whopping 50 songs long.

I don’t even know if I heard 50 new songs this year period.

Wright, who is fond of putting together lists of his favorite things, shared his Spotify playlist on Twitter. It includes music from tons of artist, including LCD Soundsystem, Beck, St. Vincent, Drake, Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, and Broken Social Scene. But there are also so many artists here I don’t know at all that I am now contemplating moving to a retirement home in Florida so I can feel like I am among my own people.

And because he loves sharing his favorite things with fans, he asked them to tell him which new tracks he included are their favorites. So after you give it a listen (spoiler alert: it’s awesome), tell him which ones you enjoyed the most.

As someone who struggles to find great new music, I have a request for him: please do this every year.

Which track here was your favorite? What other songs from this year would have made your playlist of the best of 2017? Hit play on your thoughts in the comments below.
