AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’s Thanos Gets a New Look at D23

Ever since The Avengers in 2012, we’ve been waiting to meet Thanos for real in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve certainly had glimpses of the mad Titan in the gold armor. From his supporting role in Guardians of the Galaxy to his post-credits appearance in Age of Ultron, this is one cosmic big bad we’ve been anticipating for quite a while.

And a new statue at the D23 expo is giving us quite a different look at him.

Why no armor on this Thanos? Well, it’s possible that Disney and Marvel are already willing to show what he looks like post-superhero battle. But that seems unlikely, given the usual secrecy surrounding these things. What seems more possible, given this statue’s confrontational stance, is that Kevin Feige and company want you to really feel the threat, and take note of the fact that even without all his fancy garb, Thanos is still one purple space dude who can pound you to a pulp, super powers or no.

We also can’t help but notice that a big purple guy wearing green pants makes a nice complement to a big green guy wearing purple pants, as the Hulk generally is. And like the Hulk, he does seem to be always angry.

Will Infinity War be no country for space titans? Or his he sufficiently goony to be good enough? (A yai yai yai yai yeah!) Let us know what you think in comments below.
