Artist Imagines What Happened in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR After the Snap

At the climax of Avengers: Infinity War the Mad Titan named Thanos used the powers of his fully assembled Infinity Gauntlet and killed off half the population of the universe. It was the snap heard round the universe. Although the film gave us the very immediate aftermath of the snap event, for lack of a better word, we’ll have to wait until next year to see how the world reacts to half of their friends and loved ones disappearing in a flash.

Or, if like us, you have no patience, you can check out comic book artist Stephen Byrne’s Twitter feed, where he’s made some amazing illustrations about what happens in the MCU post-snap. You might recognize Byrne’s name from comics like Justice League/Power Rangers and Green Arrow. His skills are on full display in these beautiful tear-jerker images.

The first illustration shows the surviving Avengers (and Rocket) heading back to Wakanda, where Black Panther‘s sister Shuri gets the devastating news.

Next, we see Peter Parker’s school friends Ned and MJ as they mourn the loss of their buddy. We also see the dusting of Aaron Davis, Donald Glover‘s character from Spider-Man: Homecoming, which directly inspires his nephew Miles Morales to become the new Spider-Man.

Byrne also shows us the moment Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, receives her call to arms on her ’90s era pager. (Good thing she keeps it handy while fighting aliens and whatnot.)

And finally, Byrne shows us a corner of the MCU we all hope we get to see sometime in the next few years: the world of the X-Men. In this heartbreaking image, we see Jean Grey dissolve away as Wolverine stands by helpless.

While these images aren’t canon…we kind of wish they were. Don’t you?

What did you make of these beautiful panels? Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments below.
