Those of us who attended last week’s 40th Annual Saturn Awards in Burbank were at first disappointed when we learned that Walking Dead director/executive producer/makeup effects supervisor Greg Nicotero (pictured above on the show’s Georgia set alongside star Andrew Lincoln) was unable to attend and accept his George Pal Memorial Award in person due to work obligations on the AMC TV show. But we soon learned that Nicotero had prepared a little treat for us in advance, in the form of a very clever acceptance speech video featuring some familiar faces and a bit of the very same makeup magic for which he was being honored. That video has thankfully just been released to YouTube for all to enjoy…

Now that is a must see for fans of The Walking Dead. I love the fact that it features not only Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, and Michael Cudlitz in character (as well as Nicotero himself), but also finds a way to showcase the makeup maestro’s award-winning handiwork. AMC and Anchor Bay please note — the completist in me hopes and prays you find a way to incorporate this video into the upcoming Season 4 Blu-ray set. But if that set’s August 26th release doesn’t provide enough time for you to do so, I can wait until Season 5. Just don’t forget!
