Fans of  Attack on Titan and Evangelion may have new reasons to visit Japan this winter. Universal Studios Japan is upgrading its attractions for both titles, but only for a limited time.
Via Rocket News 24, IT Media is reporting that Attack on Titan The Real 4-D 2 and Evangelion XR Ride will open in Universal Studios Japan on January 13, and both will run until June 25, 2017. As the name suggests, the Attack on Titan attraction is essentially a sequel to the previous Attack on Titan 4-D attraction in the park. But this time, the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan will be featured in the sequel. And considering how important they are to the Attack on Titan mythology, it’s surprising that they weren’t included in the original iteration.
While Attack on Titan The Real 4-D 2 appears to be a viewing experience “enhanced by wind, light, and other effects,” the Evangelion XR Ride will actually be a ride that puts fans in the middle of a battle between one of the Eva mechs and the giant alien invaders known as “Angels.” Now that sounds exciting!
We’re not sure why the Evangelion ride won’t be a permanent attraction, but we’re more curious about when or if these attractions could ever come to the Universal Studios theme parks in the United States. Space is always at a premium in those parks, but should Universal Orlando ever let the Marvel rights revert to Disney, perhaps the Marvel Islands of Adventure area could be better used bringing us some of the cool international rides that we haven’t previously seen in this country. Just a thought.
