ASH VS. EVIL DEAD is Headed to Starz, Helmed By Sam Raimi

The seminal horror classic The Evil Dead is making its return, and in a big way. Starz announced today that the network will be home to a brand new series set in the Evil Dead universe known as Ash vs. Evil Dead.

The series is set to act as a follow-up to the film franchise, with Sam Raimi and producing partner Rob Tapert joining forces once more to helm the series as its directing team. Bruce Campbell will also be reprising his groovy role as Ash, everyone’s favorite chainsaw-clad fast-talking monster hunter whom we last saw struggling to get back to his home in Army of Darkness.

Across ten half-hour episodes slated for a 2015 debut, Ash will be forced to grapple with both the personal and literal demons inhabiting his life as he comes face to face with a powerful Deadite army looking to annihilate all of mankind. No pressure though, right?

Sam Raimi will direct the first episode and serve as executive producer along with Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell. Raimi had this to say of the upcoming project:

“Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it,”

If you weren’t excited before, surely you’re chomping at the bit now and ready to get back in the saddle again to kill off some freaky Deadites. Ash has been the face of the film franchise since its inception, and while a female heroine was a welcome and refreshing change of pace in 2013’s Evil Dead, there’s plenty of room for us to hail to the king once more.
