The classic black on white of the Imperial Stormtrooper uniform may be timeless, but it’s also SOOOO last season. This is why, for this year’s Star Wars Day (which is, naturally, May the 4th), Disney Consumer Products, Lucasfilm, and Neff have given artists the opportunity to completely recolor the familiar helmet as part of the Star Wars Legion gallery opening in Los Angeles this weekend.
Artists from all of the related companies, like The Walt Disney Company, Lucasfilm, Industrial Light & Magic, Marvel, and Pixar, as well as select street artists chosen by Neff and celebrity Star Wars fans, have volunteered to do their creative-est interpretation of TK-421. (It’s just a generic Stormtrooper helmet, but I like to pretend it’s the one that isn’t at his post.)
In the official press release, Neff CEO Shaun Neff said, “As a lifelong Star Wars fan, it’s been a dream of mine to collaborate with Lucasfilm. Teaming up with some of the most prominent street artists from around the world, we are thrilled to work alongside The Walt Disney Company — to reimagine such an iconic piece of cinematic history as the Stormtrooper.”
