Artist Turns STAR WARS Scenes Into Comic Panels to Count Down to THE FORCE AWAKENS

Do you know what year this is? It’s 2015, and that means we get a new Star Wars movie in less than 12 months. Twelve months! I still have moments where I don’t quite believe it, and then I pinch myself and look at my countdown calendar and feel giddy all over again. How will I ever make it to December?

Other fans feel the same way so we help each other through. We talk about the existing films, we watch and enjoy Star Wars Rebels, and some of us get creative. Cartoonist George Folz falls into that last category. He’s counting down to Star Wars: The Force Awakens by turning a Star Wars scene into a comic panel every single day. He started on January 1, 2015 and will continue the project past the December 18th release date of Episode VII to the end of the year. By the time he’s finished, he’ll have a hefty portfolio of 365 Star Wars drawings.

The Star Wars scenes he’s chosen so far have all been from the original trilogy. He kicked off the project with the above panel of stormtroopers on Tatooine discovering the escape pod. It was a fine place to begin considering the first trailer for The Force Awakens also started on Tatooine.

Subsequent days have featured more scenes from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi. Folz is changing up the styles and palettes of the comic panels, and I make it a point each day to visit his Twitter feed and see his latest piece of art. A couple more examples:

Yeah, the Star Wars fandom just keeps getting more awesome.

Be sure to follow George Folz to keep tabs on his Star Wars 365 project!
