Artist Imagines FINAL FANTASY VII in the Style of BIG HERO 6

Ever since the first Kingdom Hearts game was released, there has been a partnership linking Square Enix and the mega-corp that is Disney. It wouldn’t be too hard to imagine how else the two would influence each other’s works. It is this kind of partnership that can inspire people like DeviantArt artist ZedEdge, real name Zak, and his new series of pieces which reimagine Final Fantasy VII characters in a Disney 3D animation art style. The style is specifically based on that of the film Big Hero 6, which Zak sights as the specific movie that led to his interest in creating these drawings. He has labeled the series “Final Fandisney” on his page, but also refers to it as “Busted” with it’s own logo and everything.

At the moment he only has a few of the characters from the game completed and on display, but plans to paint and post every one of the main characters. So, if you enjoy these ones, you may want to check back with his DeviantArt page every so often to see the new ones when they come out.

Zak’s redesigns offer cool and interesting changes made to the characters, with inspiration coming from both the Final Fantasy VII game as well as the follow-up film Advent Children. Personally, I love the redone look for Tifa, which builds her as more of a realistic fighter instead of the standard anime male-gaze female. I also really like the outfit he designed for his version of Cloud, even if it is highly questionable that this version might ever be able to lift a Buster Sword with those tiny arms. Then again, it’s not like he really should have been able to before.

Take a look at the rest of Zak’s mash-up designs below, and be sure to check out his DeviantArt page for more awesome artwork.
