ARROW Season 4 Adds Echo Kellum as Mr. Terrific

There’s a new hero coming to Starling City!

Echo Kellum has joined the cast of Arrow in a recurring role as Curtis Holt, the man who will be the superhero known as Mr. Terrific. Kellum’s character is loosely based on the second Mr. Terrific created in 1997 by John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake.

Kellum is best known for his regular roles on Ben and Kate and Sean Saves The World, in addition to his appearances in Comedy Bang Bang and Hot in Cleveland.

In DC’s comic book universe, Michael Holt is “the third smartest man alive” who was inspired to become the new Mr. Terrific by the story of Terry Sloane, the first hero to use that name. Holt was also driven by the accidental death of his wife and unborn child, for which he blamed himself.

At Comic-Con, Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that the show’s version of Mr. Terrific will be gay. That may explain why the character’s first name was changed to Curtis, as it would allow the Arrow creative team to potentially use Michael Curtis at a later date. It’s also known that Curtis Holt will be working with Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) at Palmer Technologies while Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) is missing following the events of Arrow’s third season finale.

Kellum will make his first appearance in the second episode of Arrow’s fourth season.
