ARROW Producer Reveals John Diggle’s New Costume

Over the weekend, Arrow co-showrunners Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle said that they might “break the internet” with the upcoming trailer for the fourth season. But it seems like the breaking will begin a little early.

After a tease at San Diego Comic-Con via David Ramsey, John Diggle’s costume from Arrow Season 4 has been revealed…and it kind of reminds us of a cross between Magneto and Professor Chaos from South Park. When fans clamored to see Diggle in costume, most of them were probably hoping that he would get a cool mask and a unique outfit. It may a little early to pass judgment on this costume, but Diggle’s new look does seem more like motorcycle gear than anything else.

“We try to be very consistent with our characterization,” explained Guggenheim. “I don’t think Diggle looks at it as a costume per se. Oliver, in the last season, gave him advice in terms of concealing his identity, and so Diggle approaches it from a very practical standpoint. He followed Oliver’s advice and he’s got a means of concealing his identity, but I think Diggle would probably react to anyone calling it a costume.”

Arrow Season 4 is already poised to be big for Diggle, as the season-long storyline will finally involve H.I.V.E., the organization that put a hit out on Diggle’s late brother, Andy. There is also the lingering fallout between Diggle and Oliver (Stephen Amell), since Diggle was not at all pleased about the way that Oliver jeopardized the safety of his wife and kept Diggle out of the loop last season.

The fourth season of Arrow will premiere on Wednesday, October 7 on The CW.
