Hey, we now have a date for the return of Arrested Development: Sunday, May 26th.
That’s the date that 15 new episodes of the show will be released simultaneously via Netflix at 12:01 am PT in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Latin America, Brazil, and the Nordics. You can assume that a lot of people — I might be one of them — will devote the whole day to devouring all the new episodes. And we’ll find out whether, in a figurative sense, there’s still money in the banana stand….
From the press release:
“Arrested Development is now widely viewed as one of the top TV comedies of all time and Mitch Hurwitz is bringing it to Netflix in a brand new way, crafted for the on-demand generation that has come to discover the show in the years since it last appeared on TV,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer for Netflix. “The highly anticipated return of this show is sure to make history all over again.”
“Ted said that? Wow. Well don’t print this obviously, but he’s going to be immensely disappointed. In truth we are doing something very ambitious that can only be done with Netflix as partners and on their platform. Finally my simple wish for the show is coming true: that it be broadcast every second around the clock to every television, computer or mobile device in existence,” said series creator and executive producer Mitch Hurwitz.
Can’t wait.
We appreciate you for writing stories such as these to sustain understanding.

I wish it was May already, so I can get my hands on these episodes! I’ve even marked down this release date on my calendar in my office at DISH, like I would not remember about the arrival of new Arrested Development. 😉 In fact, the anticipation for this day to get here is just about eating me alive, so I’m going to have to re-watch the older seasons in the meantime. Luckily, reruns still air all the time, so I will start recording those immediately. I’m just happy that I don’t have to be concerned about how quickly these may add up on my DVR now that I have the DISH Hopper. Because this DVR features up to 2,000 hours of recording space, I’ll be able to record as many episodes as I need and still have room for my other shows!
Very awesome news .
Classic video. Can’t wait for more Arrested Development! If you have never seen the show give it a chance.
Firefly is over. I liked it, but people need to face it. If anything maybe another movie. I wanna see more Pushing Daisies, but the same could be said about that show. I very much enjoyed Firefly, but my favorite thing Whedon has done is his Astonishing X-Men run. It is great!
YES! FIREFLY!
NOW FIREFLY!! FIREFLY!!!!
