The KILLING GUNTHER Trailer is THE OFFICE for Hitmen

If the last 30+ years of action movies have taught us anything it’s the irrefutable fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger cannot be killed. Still, it seems a group of aspiring assassins in a new film will be learning that lesson the hard way.

Killing Gunther is the new action comedy from Saban Films that was written and directed by SNL alum Taran Killam. The film’s synopsis explains that it’s set in a world where “a group of young, raw and undisciplined assassins hire a docu-crew at gun point, to have undeniable proof that they’re the ones who will kill the most infamous hit man of all time, Gunther. But Gunther is on to them before they know it and he makes it his personal mission to make their lives a living hell. It becomes a race against time: kill or be killed, as the hunters quickly become the prey.”

Schwarzenegger in an all-out comedy performance is something we haven’t seen in quite a while and it’s nice to have it back. While many of his roles usually involve some sort of tongue-in-cheek line or a knowing look to camera, we’d have to go all the way back to 1996’s Jingle All the Way or 1994’s Junior for a starring role in an action/comedy. And even further back if we actually want a good movie.

In addition to Killam and Schwarzenegger, Killing Gunther’s cast is rounded out by a respectable group of comedic actors including Cobie Smulders, Hannah Simone, Allison Tolman, and Bobby Moynihan. The film will be available on Ultra VOD September 22nd, 2017 and hit select theaters (and on-demand services) on October 20th.

What do you think of Schwarzenegger’s return to a starring comedic role? Let’s discuss in the comments below!
