Are You Ready for the GREAT HORROR CAMPOUT?

Last month, fans of @Midnight watched Mike Phirman, “Weird Al” Yankovic and Mamrie Hart write their Trip Advisor reviews for The Great Horror Campout, a “12-hour, overnight, interactive horror camping adventure” and this weekend, I’ll get a chance to experience it for myself.

Yes, this Friday night I’ve signed up to attempt to survive until the “dawning sun” saves me. Zoinks!

So what is The Great Horror Campout? An event from the team who produce the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, The Great Horror Campout is billed as a “choose your own adventure” overnight experience. The Great Horror Campout is in multiple cities and states this year and kicks off this weekend in Los Angeles. For two nights, campers will spend the night at the Griffith Park Old Zoo, which is also the site of the Halloween-themed Haunted Hayride. Campers are provided a 12 hour experience lasting from 8PM to 8AM and can control how extreme their experience is. The “Chicken Zone” is for the faint of heart where campers can roast marshmallows and watch scary movies. Outside of the Chicken Zone campers can participate in the “Hell Hunt,” a scavenger hunt that includes the possibility of being kidnapped, captured and chained while searching for items by digging through roadkill, participating in a voodoo ritual or taking a bath in the blood of a “Pope Lick.”

Don’t live in Los Angeles? No problem! The Great Horror Campout is coming to you all summer from Texas to Northern California, Seattle to Portland and more cities. For additional information, check out the official website at www.greathorrorcampout.com. See you around the campfire!

  1. So jealous!! As a girl who grew up with a bad parent in the 80’s I love horror movies, and surprisingly enough, camping as well. I would enjoy this so much! ^_^ Hope you have a great time!
