Archie Comics’ ‘Worlds Unite’ to Feature Even More Sega and Capcom Characters

Earlier last year, Archie Comics announced that a sequel to 2013’s “Worlds Collide” crossover event –which combines their Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog comics — was on it’s way. While details were slim, what we do know is that the follow-up is also going to involve characters from Mega Man X and Sonic Boom. Well, it seems those aren’t the only new characters we were going to see! According to a recent press release, the crossover is also set to include characters from other popular video game franchises by Sega and Capcom.

As you’ll see in the above image, Ryu (Street Fighter), Vyse (Skies of Arcadia), Base Wing (Panzer Dragoon), Gore Magala (Monster Hunter 4) and more have been confirmed for the event. In addition to that we will also see characters from the likes of Sega franchises Alex Kidd, Billy Hatcher, Golden Axe, and NiGHTS, as well as Capcom’s popular Breath of Fire, Ghosts N’ Goblins, “Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe series.

Archie Comics Executive Director of Editorial Paul Kaminski told IGN, “There have been some crazy awesome franchises joining the Worlds Unite fray up until now, but you know we had to save some EPIC franchises for last! The high adventure and swash-buckling action of Skies of Arcadia stands alongside the ultra-popular and eye-grabbing world of Monster Hunter! The cool creatures and epic scale of Panzer Dragoon joins Ryu, Chun-Li and all your favorite characters of the action-packed world of Street Fighter! Do not miss a second of the biggest crossover event EVER to hit Archie Action Comics!”

“Worlds Unite” is set to begin in May with a special prelude comic available for free in comic book stores nationwide on Free Comic Book Day. According to the press release, The 12-part crossover event begins in Sonic Universe #76 and continues through the other Archie Action titles including Sonic Boom, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Mega Man.”

So there you have it folks. After a few days of reveals, we finally have a pretty good picture of what to expect once Worlds Unite hits shelves. Are you excited for the crossover? Let us know in the comments below.
