A sure sign that a TV show is in production and getting ready to hit your television with a splash is the slow trickle of information that inevitably makes its way out of the set. Yesterday, Archie Comics tweeted the very first photos from the set of the upcoming pilot for Riverdale that is just finished filming.

From newsstands to small town logos, Archie Comics gave a nice little sneak peak into the look and feel of their new show. Fans of the long-running series are looking forward to seeing the town of Riverdale brought to life outside the comics and cartoons that we all grew up consuming, and for once, I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen a whole lot of animosity from the Internet when it comes to another beloved comics property being co-opted by Hollywood. With this kind of attention to detail, are you surprised?
Or perhaps the student body knows something? Who knows, they've been pretty busy. #Riverdale pic.twitter.com/ft9rfkpX32

Maybe the #Riverdale police would have some insight. pic.twitter.com/Qg0P61sPup

Gotta wonder if Andrews Construction Co. had anything to do with it. #Riverdale pic.twitter.com/lQMfUA0e4E

In my opinion, though, the real pièce de résistance is the final picture that they chose to reveal, Pop’s Chock’lit Shop in all its glory. How great is it to see the set coming together? Now all we need are a few action shots of our cast, and I’ll be satisfied until we have a premiere date to count down to.
Oh hey, there it is. Let's grab a soda. You in? #Riverdale pic.twitter.com/50WooMIapW

Casting for the show has also slowly been announced with KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, and Cole Sprouse playing Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. Given the cast photos coming from the set, I’d say they are falling into their characters really well.

The Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa written pilot just finished shooting, and we’re getting excited about all the hints we’re getting from its creators. Word has it the plot will be much more 21st century than the old comics were.
