ARCHER Says Goodbye to the Voice of Woodhouse with this Tribute Video

The Archer family lost one of their own when George Coe, the voice of Archer’s butler Woodhouse, passed away on July 18th after a long illness at the age of 86.

George has been a star of television, film, and theatre. He was a member of the original cast of Saturday Night Live back in 1975. His film credits include The Stepford Wives, Kramer vs. Kramer, The Dove, and The Mighty Ducks. Among his other voice credits are Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Guild Wars 2.

The character of Woodhouse was the Alfred to Archer’s Bruce Wayne, if Bruce Wayne was ACTUALLY how he portrayed himself in public. Woodhouse was always a victim of Archer’s abuse, no matter how good a job he did.

It’s very fitting that FX released the above tribute video, showing highlights of Woodhouse throughout the series. Well, “highlights” will depend on your point of view, and the majority of the video focuses on Archer’s not-so-healthy relationship with him. It’s not until the end of the video where we see Archer tells Woodhouse that he actually cares for him, and this doubles as the cast telling George how much they meant to them. Archer is not known for being a tear-jerker of a show, but this video does let feel how heartfelt this loss is for the cast and crew.
