Myths are constant threads running across cultures throughout human history. Stories and legends abound in every corner of the world and have been passed down from century to century, verbally at first and then eventually recorded. Archaia’s been exploring various aspects of mythology with their Jim Henson’s The Storyteller series. Inspired by the Jim Henson TV series from the ’80s, The Storyteller comics have already focused on dragons and witches, but now, they’re going large and focusing on tall tales. We’re excited to exclusively announce Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Giants.

The limited four-issue series will debut on December 7. Like the previous installments in The Storyteller series, each issue will center on a different myth from around the world and that myth will have a connection to giants. These books offer a creative path into other cultures and are a fine starting point to exploring the stories other cultures tell when gathered around the fire.
The first issue (the cover is just above) will be written and illustrated by Conor Nolan. It’s a reimagining of the Japanese tale “The Peach’s Son.” The plot follows a giant who was raised by humans but never fully accepted by them. The synopsis: “When a nearby village is overrun with evil beings, the giant will take a chance to be a hero and prove himself to be part of the community he calls home.”
The following issues will include stories by Brandon Dayton, Jared Cullum, and Feifei Ruan.
Will you be adding Jim Henson’s The Storyteller: Giants to your pull list? Let me know in the comments.
