The folks over at Blizzard Entertainment are big fans of April Fools’ Day and usually have several pranks and gags to offer each year. These tend to vary for each game, but they always have something special for their flagship MMO, World of Warcraft. This year, Blizzard seems to feel that WOW does not offer enough in the realm of true love and has set out to remedy that problem. Blizzard promises that their newest patch for their RPG, Patch 6.1.4, will include a quest to receive an item known as the T.I.N.D.R. Box, for players to use in their Garrisons. So while the player is out questing, doing raids, playing in PVP matches, or whatever else, their followers back at their Garrison will be busy swiping left or swiping right on the T.I.N.D.R. box to find that player a perfect match for companionship. Those matches won’t last long though, so it is in the player’s best interest to quit out of whatever raid, instance, or PVP match that they are in the middle of when a match does finally come their way. Don’t worry, they promise it will be totally worth it.
The best part of Blizzard’s April Fools’ pranks, are that they can lead to legitimate in-game changes and features sometimes. Their 2003 joke was the inclusion of the Pandaren race to Warcraft III, which would later become an actual playable race in World Of Warcraft with Mist of Pandaria. Their joke of adding a Equipment Potency Equivalence Number score (or EPEEN) was a phallic joke at the expense of players who would “measure their EPEEN” against others in deciding to invite them to Raids. While not truly using the name, Blizzard has since adopted this concept into their Dungeon and Raid finder system. So don’t be so sure some sort of T.I.N.D.R. Box wouldn’t make its way into the game down the road. I mean, the S.E.L.F.I.E. camera is an actual thing in Warcraft, after all.
