You guys: winter may not be coming, at least for a little while, but the NBA championships are most assuredly en route. And just like in the Game of Thrones, in the Game of Zones you either win or you die. Only by die we mean “get cut from the team” because nobody actually gets killed in the NBA, right? That tomfoolery is left up to the footballers [Insert angry grumbles about on-the-nose joke from NFL fans here].
The folks over at The Bleacher Report have created a fun little animated video that even non-sports-loving fans of Westeros will enjoy. Your fair author here may know little-to-nothing when it comes to sports, but one thing is for certain: the universalities of Game of Thrones‘ power-struggle storytelling relate to pretty much everything, and work particularly well when you cast the Lakers as House Frey; get your Hodor and Bran from the Chicago Bulls; turn LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Derrick Rose into various lords and nobility; and announce that the aforementioned championship is coming by way of a few San Antonio Spurs-turned-White Walkers on the top of The Wall.
Yes, even non-basketball obsessives will enjoy the spoofery. Besides, professional sports machinations look ridiculous from time to time â sometimes even more insane than a plot twist from the mind of George R.R. Martin.
We do have some questions for the video, though: who in the NBA is the Daenerys? What about the Joffrey? Is there a Cersei and a Jaime? What does that make Donald Sterling? Is V. Stiviano his Varys? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

OMG! The Spurs being White Walkers is the best part!!!!
This is great! Wonder what the Venn diagram of the NBA and GoT looks like…?
