This Young Han Solo Audition Was 7 Years in the Making

So unless you were hiding under a rock out on Tatooine somewhere, you might have heard that Disney/Lucasfilm officially announced this week that the next Star Wars Anthology film after Rogue One would focus on the younger days of everyone’s favorite scoundrel, Han Solo. If that weren’t exciting enough, the film will be directed by The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. This news, of course, caused the internet to instantly start its own casting game, with everyone and their mother giving their two cents on various social media platforms as to who should wear Harrison Ford’s famous black vest.

Of course, a ton of people jumped to the conclusion that Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt simply must play the young Han, mostly because he’s already been heavily rumored for the part of Indiana Jones for that particular movie reboot. Look folks, Chris Pratt can’t be in everything, and at 36, he’s perfect to a play a 1930s-era Dr. Jones, but too old to play an early twenties, “just starting out” in the smuggling business Han Solo. So scratch Christ Pratt. And scratch anyone from Teen Wolf too for that matter, just because. [Editor’s note: What about Teen Wolf for Young Chewbacca? – Dan]

Interestingly enough, the right man for the job may have been under our noses for years, on YouTube of all places. Seven years ago, a then-eighteen-year-old actor named Anthony Ingruber, who bears an uncanny resemblence to a young Harrison Ford, did a series of impressions of the legendary actor. Although some were not exactly perfect, there’s no doubt when watching them that this guy totally invokes a young Ford.

In fact, he did such a good job that he got to play a younger version of Harrison Ford’s character in the recent film The Age of Adeline. Naturally, fans are hoping that Disney bypasses the obvious choices of big name actors and former CW stars and gives Mr. Ingruber a chance to audition at the very least. I mean, just watch his imitation of Han in the Cantina scene from A New Hope, and tell me you wouldn’t want to see this guy get his chance to shoot first.
