As was announced a few weeks ago, and we reported after Gallifrey One, episode four of “The Tenth Planet,” the holy grail of missing Doctor Who episodes which featured William Hartnell regenerating into Patrick Troughton, is going to be animated for that story’s DVD release later this year.
Well, as a way of proving it, a clip of the final scenes of the episode has been released on doctorwho.tv. The animation company for the project is Planet 55 Studios, who have evidently been working on it since all the way back in 2011. Way to keep it a secret, people. Let us know what you think of the animation and how it compares to the only surviving clip of “The Tenth Planet” episode 4, which is the regeneration itself. The DVD of “The Tenth Planet” will come out some time in September.

Hi there! I know this is somewhat off topic but
I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
Anyone else reminded of Peter Chung’s works when looking at that animation? Beautiful!
Also, extra points to Planet 55 Studios for sticking with the 4:3 aspect ratio!
A slight correction. Though the clip above of the regeneration is the highest quality footage that remains of the episode, and the only “official” footage that is left, there are small snippets that fans recorded off the TV, ranging from 1 – 19 seconds, that still survive. I was going to go into an explanation as to what it has, but someone uploaded them to YouTube. Yay! (The audio is out-of-sync at the end for no real reason, but you get the gist of it.)
