A few weeks ago, 20th Century Fox released an X-Men: Apocalypse photo of Ben Hardyâs Angel standing triumphant over a classic X-Men villain in an underground fight club. Now Fox has released a new preview that adds a lot of context to that pic. For starters, the mutants may not be there voluntarily!
Jennifer Lawrence posted the mutant fight club scene on her Facebook page, and Mystique does get a lot of play in this clip as she sees for herself whatâs happening within. Even in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Mystique went out of her way to free mutants in captivity. She seems to be more proactive about it in this film, especially once she sees the way that Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is forced to fight Angel. However, itâs less clear if Angel is also a captive. And heâs definitely the aggressor of this match!
This may be Lawrenceâs final appearance as Mystique, but sheâll have a much more heroic role in X-Men: Apocalypse as she reunites with Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and his team as they confront Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) and his horsemen: Angel, Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender).
Previous X-Men film veterans Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, and Rose Byrne will also be back alongside the new group of mutant heroes: Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, and Lana Condor as Jubilee.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be released on Friday, May 27.
