And Now, a Pretty Impressive Fan-Made GAME OF THRONES Trailer

Want to be impressed? This fan-made trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones is sure to do the trick, as it’s actually better than the veritable smorgasbord of trailers and other offerings (seriously: there is quite a lot) HBO has released thus far. It may give some folks pause — using a Lorde cover of the Tears For Fears’ song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” is likely to ruffle a few stuffy feathers — but it ultimately hits all the right notes to give a truly bone-chilling look at what’s in store for the Westerosi clans, at each other’s necks for power, control, and freedom.

Using nothing more than the previously released teasers and trailers is all it took for YouTuber Lady Dog Trailers to fluidly — and impressively — match up song sentiment with all-too-appropriate character quips and clips. Even more impressive is that she insists the trailer is only her second attempt ever at creating a video (the first was for Harry Potter over 8 years ago). To call it not too shabby would be an understatement.

Sick of all the Game of Thrones goodies yet? Ready for April 6th to hurry up and get here? Let us know in the comments.

make a stink about the removal of this awesome trailer on their FB page – maybe if they get enough people griping about them removing it they will bring it back and hopefully pay this talented young fan

  4. Jay says:

Removed due to copyright… Ugh. Come on!

  5. Jessica says:

Your right WC… It’s not the same. I thought it was, but after watching it again, I agree it’s not. Wich is very sad, because I looked a very long time trying to find it! Darn it! But I do like it way more than HBO’s spin of it. For a novice, she did great!

  6. Editor says:

I saw the original posted by LadyDog yesterday, and no it wasn’t fluid. If you want an example of what I’m talking about when I say fluid, flow, cutting to music, story structure, or utilizing the music please reference these trailers – The Watchmen TEASER (music, use of lyrics, editing flow/pacing), Where the Wild Things Are TEASER (storytelling and music), 300 TRAILER 2 (story build, music), The Social Network TRAILER (storytelling and music). The trailer by LadyDog has some good moments, but again, the story is not building toward anything (“I’m guilty” has not been earned and it doesn’t lead to anything else for example). The song is a great match for the material, but there are many sections of it that are underutilized. I’m trying to give Ladydog quality advice, thats how we get better.

  7. WC says:

The link 2 posts up listed by Jessica is not the same trailer mentioned in all the articles. The one listed in the articles by Lady Dog was very fluid with the song and was structured differently and had a dragon at the end before the GoT logo comes up.

  8. Editor says:

Please stop saying this trailer is perfect. The song is a good choice, but the editing is not fluid and perfect. She started off strong utilizing the music and shots, but then favors lyrics over beat in the rest of the piece. The flow of the story makes no sense (dialogue chosen is mostly at fault), and some of you may bark at me for that but I’m guessing you’v read the books and know what is going to happen THEREFORE you understand the lines. I’m not saying this to dog on the editor, I’m trying to help because I do see talent there. If you’re reading this, here are a few tips, you can take them or no.

    1. Utilize the beats of the music when making your cuts especially in the back end (you were doing a very good job with the open but then lost your way in the back end)

    2. This is a two parter. To create more emotional impact with certain lines, utilize music stops, and try chopping up the song so it does what YOU want/need it to do . Don’t handcuff yourself by just laying down the track – whole – and letting it dictate the cut.

    3. Pay close attention to context when you use dialogue. There are some lines in here that jump in, but aren’t building/leading to anything. I understand you only had previously released material to use, but remember those are lines and shots that were considered to be some of the best they had to work with.

Hope you find this helpful and you’re not offended. I wouldn’t take the time to write this if I didn’t see talent. Happy editing.

  9. Jessica says:

Found it on YouTube 🙂 awesome! http://youtu.be/iDYwodwmBDo

  10. ian says:

HBO sucks. Thanks for pulling this, you bunch of jackasses. This person is making no money off this (as far as I know), and if this is how they treat their fans, they can suck it. I’ll wait to pirate it on DVD instead of continuing my subscription. dicks.

  11. AnthonyBuce says:

I didn’t get to see it

  12. Steve says:

Looks like HBO removed it. They are such stupid pieces of crap. The video was free publicity. They don’t even have “Game of Thrones” on their HBO on Demand. They really suck!!

  13. John says:

It got axed by HBO. Guess it was TOO good…

  14. Video is gone – what a shame. I appears that companies like HBO don’t understand the value of free publicity…

  15. M to The D to the I to the C says:

    video is gone

  16. Eli Enriquez says:

    Wow…already taken down by HBO…sad…

  17. Remo says:

In a dick move, HBO had it removed… instead of using the free publicity and enjoying fan engagement, they shut it down… *sigh*… when will the media learn how social media works?

  18. Lammy says:

    Umm….It’s no longer up.

  19. Samwize says:

Is it just me or are all the videos removed from the channel now?
